The type of brake system fitted on your machine obviously depends on the equipment of your tractor. JOSKIN proposes the following systems:
The mechanical brakes refer to the manual system. It is a parking brake, which means that the vehicle can only be stopped by the tractor. This is the reason why this braking system is only available on spreaders of maximum 4,000 l.
Automatic reverse inertia brakes
The automatic reverse inertia brake is mainly mounted in Germany on vehicles up to 7,000 l. The principle of this system is similar to the one used on small road trailers: when the trailer "catches up with" the tractor, the system engages the brakes. This device is at the same time safe and comfortable. The axle is of the ''automatic reverse'' type, which means that the brakes should not to be locked when reversing.
The hydraulic brakes remain the most common type of braking system.
It is part of the standard equipment on the Modulo2, Komfort2, DELTA2 and Cobra tankers.
The air braking system remains, for the moment, the system giving the greatest flexibility and power. As the loads transported are ever-increasing, it is absolutely necessary to have the most efficient braking system.
The Quadra, X-Trem, VOLUMETRA, Euroliner, Q-BIGLINER, TETRALINER and Vacu-CARGO spreaders are standard fitted with it.
For machines that can be hitched to several tractors, the dual braking system (hydraulic and air brakes) can be proposed in option.
The machines fitted with air brakes have a standard 3-position manual braking regulator (fully loaded, half-loaded, unloaded).
In option, it is possible to install a system in proportion to the load. Either on boggie or hydraulic suspension, the quantity of air allowed in the braking circuit will be adapted according to the load in the machine.
System in proportion to the load
As an option, it can be replaced by a device that regulates the braking power in proportion to the load, which is measured by a level float gauge. When your spreader is fitted with a hydraulic suspension, the braking system in proportion to the load may be operated by a proportional regulator connected to the hydraulic circuit of this axle suspension. The pressure in the hydraulic circuit will allow to adjust the air pressure in the air braking system.
