Horizontal beaters
The Tornado HORIZON is the flagship product of the range of JOSKIN muck spreaders with narrow body and spreading table. Their basic concept is based on the Tornado with vertical beaters and has the same basic principles: lightness, sturdiness and easy maintenance. Both durable and extremely maneuverable, the Tornado also proves to be economical, both from a budgetary and energy point of view. Thanks to its specially low, narrow body combined with wide, large-diameter wheels, it provides an easy traction and a great ground clearance (for less pressure on the ground), whatever the terrain.
At first glance, one might think that a narrow body has less capacity than a wide one, but when comparing volumes, it quickly turns out to be an optical illusion. This is because the narrow bodies are lowered and have side walls that are a little bit higher than on muck spreaders with a wide body, for an easier loading. The monocoque body as well as various other components, such as the drawbar and the beater frame, are made of high tensile steel. This steel is characterised by its resistance and dynamic properties. It is thereby not necessary to add any body side reinforcements and it offers a considerably reduced empty weight. For maximum protection and therefore an increased durability, the Tornado Horizon is also treated with a 2K industrial paint. The 1,370-mm high body has a loading capacity from 11.50 m³ to 17.60 m³ (or even more if extensions are added). The moving floor consists of 2 Ø 16 mm marine chains with grade 80 (the highest grade in traction chains currently available) bolted to slats with closed profiles. The moving floor (on Ø 60 mm reduction gearbox) is fitted with easily accessible side tensioners. In this way, the body forms a straight channel leading the manure towards the beaters. Since the spreading unit is wider (both inside and outside) than the body, the product can be distributed over the entire surface before being crumbled by the beaters and spread evenly by the spreading table.
All Tornado HORIZON muck spreaders are standard fitted with an automatic, hydraulic drawbar suspension. Its principle lies in the fitting of a hydraulic ram on both sides of the drawbar, in combination with two nitrogen balls. Not only does this system ensures an unmatched driving comfort at higher speeds, but it also makes it possible to keep the traction line continuous, without deformation, for all journeys with the vehicle loaded. This solution allows the operator to drive comfortably at higher speeds, regardless of the terrain conditions.
The oversized axle of the single-axle Tornado HORIZON is bolted under the monocoque body. Since the axle can be moved, it allows a perfect balance with sufficient weight on the eyelet, regardless of the tyre configuration. This assembly makes a transition to wheels with a larger diameter possible without having to touch the hydraulic motor of the moving floor or other elements. The eyelet is also bolted and can therefore be changed at any time without having to modify the structural elements. The double-axle Tornado HORIZON models are equipped as standard with a front lifting axle and a Hydro-Tandem running gear, ensuring traction ease and optimal stability on the road and in the field. The Tornado HORIZON muck spreader is standard fitted with double-circuit air brakes. However, it is possible to get hydraulic or dual brakes as an option.
The spreading width generally ranges from 12 to 22 m, depending on the products to be spread. To achieve it, two horizontal beaters (Ø 600 mm on Ø 140 mm tube) rotate at a speed of 320 rpm to crumble the material that is brought to them. The teeth are made of S700MC special steel (230 x 50 mm) and bolted for easy replacement in case of wear. The crumbled material is thrown against the closed spreading canopy to finally fall on the spreading discs (Ø 1,040 mm) rotating at a 500-rpm speed. The 6 adjustable vanes on the discs spread all the finely crumbled material evenly over a large width. In the event of excessively fibrous products (such as fresh manure), the canopy can be opened to 90° for spreading mainly using the beaters. The flow per hectare is easily adjusted by combining the speed of the tractor with that of the moving floor, via ISOBUS, and the standard galvanised guillotine door. The door is equipped with cylinders on the outside of the body for optimum product flow. The beaters and the discs are driven by a wide-angle Walterscheid P.T.O.-shaft with overrunning clutch on the tractor side and cam security on the beater side. The shaft drives a speed-increasing gearbox (Rögelberg) at 1,000 rpm, to which the two beaters and spreading discs are coupled. The spreading unit of the Tornado HORIZON is very high to ensure easy passage and crumbling of any loading dome of material.
All JOSKIN muck spreaders with spreading table are equipped with the Iso-CONTROL system to control all electrohydraulic functions of the machine: moving floor, flow metre, weighing system, guillotine door, limitation boards, etc. Thanks to its advanced level of technology, it automatically regulates the moving floor speed based on the data supplied by the weighing system, ensuring a highly accurate dosage of the material spread.
