Line Spreading Booms
The Penditwist line spreading boom has a hot-dip galvanised frame for a maximal durability and an optimal protection against corrosion. The 6’’ (Ø 150 mm) feeding hoses connect the back of the tanker to the Scalper macerators. These macerators distribute the slurry and direct it towards the line hoses (Ø 40 mm), which are orientated towards the rear and spaced 25 cm or 30 cm apart depending on the model. The Penditwist spreading boom is available with different widths (12, 13.5, 15, 16 and 18 m) and has many applications. It lays the slurry on the ground without slowing down the growth of the plants and with no slurry residue in the forage, which is ideal for grass or maize silage, the fertilisation of meadows, growing crops, etc.
The vertical macerator is an essential part of any spreading implement. Penditwist line spreading booms are equipped with two macerators to reduce the reaction time at the start of the spreading work as well as pressure losses (more even spreading pattern). Recently modernised, they are equipped with a 6″ manual dosing valve and cut foreign bodies in the slurry thanks to a movement imitating that of a pair of scissors. An ingenious air intake device draws and directs air into the centre of the knives to ensure a continuous flow through the hoses. With user comfort in mind, JOSKIN has also sought to simplify maintenance. Each macerator features a double quick-release opening for easy access and removal of knives and counter blades, a quick-release stone trap and 2 side hatches for thorough cleaning.
The line spreading booms are fitted with the hydraulic folding system, which has an insignificant overhang and does not affect at all the driving of the carriage. During transport, the whole is secured by a boom clipping system that has a height adjustment device and a craddle with a shock absorbing rubber. The hydraulic folding system is also fitted with diagonally positioned hydraulic rams (not vertically) to better hold the boom in position (reduction of the swinging movement). For a higher safety, when the boom is folded, the position of the macerators is pointed inwards in order not to exceed the boom size. The 18-m wide spreading booms are standard fitted with a double folding system and are therefore not longer than those of 15 m in transport position.
The Penditwist is standard fitted with the (double acting) anti-drip lifting device with Twist system. It allows a transport in a very clean way thanks to the complete rotation of the line spreading hoses, which prevents any loss of slurry on the road as well as in the fields when maneuvering. This Twist system pivots the boom at 150°. Next to the anti-drip function, it has other advantages, such as a small overhang, or the optional fitting of an exact scatterer (without having to remove the spreading boom), in order to fertilise the smallest areas.
The Penditwist is standard fitted with the anti-crash device that provides an extra safety when working on hilly ground. When spreading on bumpy ground, the springs and articulations on each boom wing retract the boom ends (max. 60 cm) if they come into contact with the ground. Since the wings are fitted at the end of the oblong holes, they can pivot and their height can be adjusted.
The Penditwist spreading booms can easily be fitted on all kinds of tankers. In their basic version, all hydraulic functions can be operated separately from the tractor cab. To make things easier, JOSKIN offers a control automaton to easily control the different operations of the boom. This Plug & Play solution provides ease of use, even for inexperienced drivers. An Isobus version is also available, for tractors equipped with this technology, offering the possibility of using the Control Section (temporary electronic closing of some spreading hoses, e.g. when on the tracks of a sprayer).
